Department of Bio-Technology





        The Department of Biotechnology was established in the academic year 2002-2003. The field of Biotechnology plays a vital role in our day-to-day life. Biotechnology is applied in the fields of Industry, Agriculture, Horticulture, Pharmacy and Animal Husbandry.

        The existing Biotechnology Department of our College is well organized with three storied building, at the cost of Rs.2.5 Crores. All the laboratories are well established with sophisticated equipments at a total cost of Rs.3 Crores. Laboratories of Biotechnology Department are very modern and are functioning effectively with imported costly equipments like Gas Chromatography, PCR, Fermentor, Gel Documentation, Fluorescence Microscope, ELISA Reader, western blotting, Lyophilizer, CO2 incubator etc. to match the benchmark standard of esteemed institutions worldwide.

  • Offering under graduate programme by providing effective and well balanced curriculum and equip themselves to gear up to the challenges awaiting.

  • Providing the technical, research and intellectual resources that will enable the students to have a successful career in the field of Biotechnology.

  • Providing need based training and professional skills to satisfy the needs of society and the industry.


  • Graduates will be successful in professional career by acquiring the knowledge in the fundamentals of Biotechnology principles and professional skills.

  • Graduates will analyze real life problems and design the socially accepted and economically feasible biotechnological solutions.

  • Graduates will engage in lifelong learning and professional development by pursuing higher studies and participation in professional organizations.

  • Graduates will exhibit good communication skills in their professional career, lead a team with good leadership traits and good interpersonal relationship with the members in other engineering teams.


  • Apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering fundamentals to the emerging complex problems in Biotechnology.

  • Identify, formulate, research literature and solve complex biotechnological problems using first principles of mathematics and engineering sciences..

  • Design solutions for complex biotechnological problems and design systems, components or processes that meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

  • Conduct investigations of complex problems including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of information to provide valid conclusions.

  • Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern tools, including prediction and modelling, to complex biotechnological activities, with an understanding of the limitations.

  • Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams and in multidisciplinary tasks.

  • Communicate effectively with the engineering community and with society at large.

  • Demonstrate understanding of the societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to engineering practice.

  • Understand and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of engineering practice.

  • Understand the impact of engineering solutions in a societal context and demonstrate knowledge of and need for sustainable development.

  • Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of management and business practices and their limitations.

The Specialized features of our department include:

  • Well equipped Laboratories with Specialized Equipments.

  • Functioning of Technical Association "Biotechnology Association" which organizes various intellectual competitions for students.

  • MOU with Helini Biomolecule Pvt.Ltd., to conduct certificate courses.

  • MOU with Central Leather Research Institute(CLRI) for sharing technology thoughts.
